Scope of this policy

This policy covers the Sidewalk Static Android application identified by the package name above and the static two-page companion website packaged with it. It describes the behavior of those surfaces as built. It does not describe separate websites, stores, operating systems, device manufacturers, or the internal practices of Glass Youth Collective.

The organization’s public mission inspired the editorial direction, but Sidewalk Static is not an official membership, event, scheduling, messaging, counseling, donation, application, or safety system.

Who Sidewalk Static is for

The app is a private creative prompt tool for teens and trusted adults exploring third places, expression, practical skills, autonomy, boundaries, and material reuse. It can be browsed without identifying the person using it.

No age, school, household, membership, or relationship status is requested or inferred by the app.

Purpose of the app

Sidewalk Static provides eighty built-in visual field cards, a four-rail Space Mixer, a local saved ticket, stars, and “tried” marks. These features support private reflection and small experiments. They do not evaluate a person, predict an outcome, connect people to each other, or decide access to an organization.

Information the app collects

The Android app does not collect personal information. It has no text-entry field, form, upload, account, camera capture, voice recording, location reading, contact import, file picker, payment flow, or remote submission.

The app has nowhere to enter a name, email address, phone number, story, photograph, or message.

Local preference state

The app can keep only the choices needed for its local experience: four Space Mixer selection numbers, whether a ticket has been saved, the numeric IDs of starred cards, and the numeric IDs of cards marked tried.

That state is stored inside the app’s private on-device preferences. It is not given a user profile, synced by the app, or sent to a server. The package’s data-extraction rules exclude these preferences from cloud backup and device transfer.

Sensitive information and creative work

The app does not ask a person to type, photograph, record, scan, or upload creative work. Its prompts may inspire offline making, but the resulting artwork remains outside the app unless the user independently chooses to handle it with another tool.

Before sharing any creative work elsewhere, consider the intended audience, permission from anyone represented, source credit, and whether the work reveals a private place or story.

Device permissions

The shipped Android manifest requests no camera, microphone, photos, files, contacts, location, notifications, Bluetooth, advertising, billing, or Internet permission. The app therefore does not use those capabilities.

If a future version requests a new permission, that would be a material behavior change requiring an updated package and policy.

Accounts and identity

No Sidewalk Static account exists. There is no sign-up, login, social graph, public handle, profile photo, cross-device identity, password, or authentication token. Local stars and tickets are not connected to a real-world identity by the app.

Analytics, advertising, and observation

The app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution, telemetry, crash-reporting, behavioral-observation, or social SDK. It does not create an advertising identifier, send engagement events, build an audience segment, or monetize attention.

The companion site includes no ads, analytics tag, tracking pixel, cookie banner, fingerprinting script, or embedded social widget.

Network behavior

The Android package has no Internet permission and its built-in cards and images load from the installed package. It cannot use the network to send local preferences, retrieve content, open an in-app browser, or synchronize state.

The companion website is made of local HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files. It sets no cookie and writes no browser storage. A host used to publish the files may process routine web-request metadata under that host’s own terms; that infrastructure is outside the Android app and outside this static source package.

Sharing and sale

Because the app does not collect personal information or transmit local state, it does not share or sell personal information. It has no broker, advertiser, analytics recipient, organization dashboard, cloud database, or third-party API receiving app activity.

Retention, clearing, and uninstalling

Local mixer choices, the saved-ticket flag, stars, and tried marks remain on the device until the user taps “Clear Shelf,” clears the app’s storage through Android settings, or uninstalls the app. “Clear Shelf” removes those saved preferences immediately and returns the mixer to its initial local state.

The eighty built-in cards and images are package content, not user data, so they remain available until the package is uninstalled.

Teens, children, and families

The editorial experience is designed with teens and trusted adults in mind, but the app does not verify age or collect information from children or teens. It does not enable contact with strangers, public posting, direct messaging, purchases, or location sharing.

Families and trusted adults can use the prompts as conversation tools while respecting a young person’s private creative work and right to decline sharing. The app is not emergency, clinical, legal, or safety advice.

Device and package security

Local preferences are kept in the app’s private Android storage and the release package is signed. The design reduces exposure by avoiding account credentials, personal-content entry, external SDKs, and network permission.

No software or device can promise absolute security. Device access controls, operating-system updates, installation source, and physical access to the device remain important protections controlled by the user and platform.

Choices and controls

A user may browse without saving, change any mixer rail before saving, toggle a star or tried mark, clear the Shelf, clear app storage through Android, or uninstall. No consent switch is needed for analytics, ads, marketing, notifications, or network sharing because those behaviors are absent.

The page-level mixer demo is temporary: its selections live only in the open page and are not written to cookies or browser storage.

External organization guidance

References to Glass Youth Collective are informational context. Current questions about organization membership, volunteering, applications, programs, schedules, eligibility, staff, safety procedures, or participation should be checked on the organization’s approved public website at glassyouth.org.

Leaving this static site for that external surface means the external site’s own behavior and privacy terms apply. The Android app itself does not open or monitor that route.

Policy changes

A behavior change—such as adding a permission, network feature, account, content submission, analytics, advertising, or external SDK—requires a revised app build and an updated policy. A revised policy should identify a new effective date and describe the changed behavior in plain language.

Changing this page alone does not change the installed app’s behavior.

Contact boundary

The app has no account, inbox, organization form, or in-app support channel. If the package is distributed through an app store, use the developer contact supplied by the publisher on that store listing for package-specific privacy questions. That publisher-controlled contact is not invented in this local website package.
